Flow rack system is a type of racking that uses gravity to feed rear-load design. Cartons are loaded on one side of the system and picked out on the other end. When an item is removed, the next carton will move forward and take its place. Working on a First In, First out (FIFO) basis, flow rack system is designed for high volume order picking and reduced operator activity.

Flow rack system is set up as a FIFO (first in, first out) storage system. Carton flow can either be designed to be implemented with pallet rack systems or to work as standalone units. The cartons or boxes are loaded onto one side of the pallet rack system, and are picked out of the other end after having slid down the wheel bed.

The gravity element allows for immediate fulfillment of space when a case is picked, eliminating the need for pickers to have to reach to the back of the shelving to select items. This combined with the option to create multiple levels of flow rack system, and product lanes within them, delivers a much more efficient, speedy and productive pick process, with increased pick faces created in smaller areas. Strips of the rollers can easily be adjusted to suit your needs. The ability to add dividers in allows you to have flexibility when segregate the lanes to suit the items that are being picked.
